Sue Land worked as a special education teacher during the 1970's and has seen great strides made in improvements to special needs education. Land believes that the Brown v. Board ruling was instrumental in helping disability advocates push for more inclusion in mainstream classrooms as well as more funding and attention for students with disabilities. Land works as Project Co-Director with the Training and the Technical Assistance Center in The School of Education at The College of William and Mary.
