A Ware Neck man is recovering from a bite from a rabid fox he received on July 1 while picking blueberries.
The resident of Anchorage Lane was bitten on the elbow by a grey fox and is receiving post-exposure prophylaxis, said M.B. Sheppard Jr., environmental health supervisor for the Gloucester County Health Department.
Sheppard said residents should avoid any animal that acts strangely or demonstrates passive or aggressive behavior. Medical attention should be sought immediately in the event of exposure, Sheppard said.
It's the fifth positive case of rabies in Gloucester this year, Sheppard said.
