Planning a party on the scope of First Night Williamsburg represents a feat of balance.
Just ask Alberta Faber, who has helped to organize the family-friendly New Year's Eve event for eight years. When it comes to music, crowds often ask for favorite acts to return year after year. Still, organizers know that new talent is necessary to keep the event fresh.
¿We have a lot of new blood this year,¿ said Faber, glancing over the schedule of 40 or more performers. How does the committee choose new acts for the event? ¿We try to have a variety and have quality music. We really like high-quality groups,¿ she said.
Among the newcomers are blues band Planet Full of Blues, (pictured) folksters Orion and the jazz-funk ensemble Plunky and Oneness.
