For the dancing machine

Let mom hoof it up with lessons at a local dance studio. For those interested in social dance styles like ballroom and salsa, Chicago Dance offers both private lessons and group classes at its two locations. An introductory private lesson for up to two people is $47 for 45 minutes. Private group lessons are $80. Group classes are also available, including introductory classes for Latin and all-occasion dancing each week. The price for a seven-week series is $126. Call to book a private lesson, register for a class or buy a gift certificate for mom to use later (no expiration date). Hours vary by location but note that the Irving Park studio is closed on Fridays and Sundays. See website for more class details. Moms interested in more modern moves can check out All About Dance, which offers private lessons to master styles such as hip-hop and jazz. A private one-hour lesson for up to two people is $90.
