We put our Twitter followers to the test before every Bears game. At stake: a chance to join our Four Score panel. Enter by 1) Having the right answer, and 2) Following and tweeting @redeyesportschi with your guess by noon Monday with the hashtag #bearschallenge. Here are this week’s question and answer, along with our winners (that's right, more than one!):
Starting in Lovie Smith’s hometown, if you drove to the hometowns of Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall, Matt Forte, Brian Urlacher and Julius Peppers and then to Soldier Field, in that order, how many miles will you have covered? (Round to the nearest mile, and use the most direct routes possible.)
Because there are several ways to interpret “hometown,” we accepted the following two “road trips” as correct answers:
1. Big Sandy, Texas, to Santa Claus, Ind., to Winter Park, Fla., to Slidell, La., to Lovington, N.M., to Bailey, N.C., to Soldier Field is approximately 5,613 miles.
2. Gladewater, Texas, to Santa Claus, Ind., to Pittsburgh to Lake Charles, La., to Pasco, Wash., to Wilson, N.C., to Soldier Field is approximately 8,405 miles.
Scott Frost (@ScottFrost12) was the only one to hit one of these answers on the head, so he gets a spot in Four Score next week. Same goes for Kyle Backman (@KyleBackman10), who was only four miles off from our second answer. Congrats! Thanks to all who participated, and good luck in the next Challenge, which will be unveiled Friday.
