Oak Park police blotter: '88 Camaro stolen, light scares off intruder and more

The following items were gathered from Oak Park police reports:

A blue 1988 Chevrolet Camaro valued at $12,000 was stolen between 11:30 p.m. May 29 and 5 a.m. May 30 on the 400 block of South Taylor Avenue.

A person turning on yard lights scared away a man who entered an unlocked garage on the 800 block of South Harvey Avenue between 3:10 and 3:16 a.m. June 4.

A portable Hazer air conditioner valued at $478 was stolen between 4 and 7 p.m. June 4 out of the vestibule of a building on the 1100 block of Washington Boulevard.

A 20-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 4:06 a.m. June 5 for an auto burglary that happened on the 900 block of Pleasant Street.

A 22-year-old Chicago woman was charged June 5 with aggravated battery of an Oak Park resident that happened May 18 on the 700 block of Belleforte Avenue.

A 50-year-old Chicago woman was charged with retail theft for stealing items at the Circle K Shell gas station, 401 Madison St., at 5:49 p.m. June 5.

A 26-year-old Chicago man was charged with domestic battery of another Chicago resident for an incident at1:30 p.m. June 5 in Oak Park.

A Cicero boy was arrested at 4:57 p.m. June 4 on the 1100 block of South Mason Avenue in Chicago after he was identified as the person who stole a bicycle out of the garage of an Oak Park resident. He received a station adjustment and was released to his mother.

A 20-year-old Forest Park man was arrested by his hometown police at 2:40 p.m. June 4 on the 7700 block of Jackson Boulevard on an Oak Park warrant for domestic battery that happened May 20 on the 700 block of South Oak Park Avenue.

A 19-year-old Chicago man was charged with resisting arrest and retail theft that happened at the Walgreens pharmacy, 6412 Roosevelt Road, at 12:33 p.m. June 4.

A 23-year-old Chicago man was charged with possession of cannabis when seen on the 300 block of Ontario Street at 9:38 a.m. June 3.

A 21-year-old Berwyn man was arrested at 2:27 a.m. May 30 on the 6400 block of Roosevelt Road and held for Cicero police on a burglary warrant.

A 45-year-old Oak Park man was charged May 30 with theft after being identified as the person who stole items out of a La Grange resident's car that day on the 200 block of Madison Street.

A man in his 40s swore and threatened to harm an employee of the Denny's restaurant, 711 N. Harlem Ave., in an argument between 5:45 and 5:53 a.m. June 1 over the quality of the food served to him.

An 18-year-old Chicago woman was charged with driving under the influence after her car was stopped on the 600 block of South Ridgeland Avenue at 3:10 a.m. June 1.

A 36-year-old Chicago man was charged with felony retail theft that happened at 9:15 a.m. May 28 at the Jewel food store, 438 Madison St. He was arrested on the 300 block of North Austin Boulevard.

A white xBox 360 game console and jewelry, with a combined value of $300, were stolen between 1 and 2:30 p.m. June 5 out of an unlocked apartment on the 400 block of South Austin Boulevard. Entry was made by breaking the glass window and unlocking the front door of the common area.

Documents containing personal information were stolen between April 3 and June 5 out of a Maywood resident's unlocked car parked on the 400 block of South Ridgeland Avenue. The loss was $1.

A Sony car radio with CD player valued at $200 was stolen between May 30 and June 2 out of an unlocked car in an unlocked garage on the 1100 block of South Elmwood Avenue.

Items valued at $755 were stolen between June 2 and 4 out of an unlocked garage on the 1100 block of Clarence Avenue. Taken were a neon green hedge trimmer; a red-white-and-blue Gary Fisher mountain bike; maroon Schwinn Cruiser bike; a black hockey equipment bag; household supplies; and a case of Kirkland baby wipes.

A red Craftsman 27-inch snow thrower valued at $700 was stolen between 1:50 and 2:30 p.m. June 4 out of a garage on the 800 block of South Humphrey Avenue where the overhead door had been left open.

Someone broke the driver's side rear window of a car parked on the 1000 block of Clarence Avenue and ransacked the vehicle but did not take anything between 1 and 6:20 p.m. June 3. Damage was $100.

A green Haro bicycle and Ryobi drill, both valued at $560, were stolen between May 31 and June 2 out of an unlocked garage on the 1100 block of Wesley Avenue.

A gray Raleigh Talus bicycle and blue Trek bicycle, both valued at $440, were stolen between 5:30 and 7:55 p.m. June 3 out of a garage on the 600 block of South Taylor Avenue where the overhead door had been left open.

A silver Apple MacBook Pro laptop computer; an orange Timbuktu computer bag; two pairs of Apple power cords; and black-and-white Samba shoes — all valued at $2,505, were stolen between 3 and 6 p.m. May 30 out of an unlocked vehicle parked on the 100 block of Ontario Street.

A black leather Wilson backpack valued at $100 was stolen between 5:30 p.m. May 29 and 8:45 a.m. May 30 out of an unlocked car parked on the 100 block of Forest Place.

Some $37 in cash was stolen between 7 p.m. May 29 and 10:45 a.m. May 30 out of a car parked on the 1000 block of Erie Street. A second similar Toyota Corolla car was ransacked on that block between 3 p.m. May 29 and 9 a.m. May 30 but nothing was missing.

Some $3 in cash was stolen between 1:30 p.m. May 29 and 10:15 a.m. May 30 out of a car parked on the 200 block of North Kenilworth Avenue.

Nothing was missing after someone ransacked a car parked on the 200 block of North Marion Street between 5 p.m. May 29 and 5:18 a.m. May 30.

A gray Trek bicycle was stolen between 9:40 and 9:50 a.m. May 30 out of the basement of a home on the 1000 block of Pleasant Street where the south door was damaged. Loss was $110.

A black Apple cell phone, cash and a gray briefcase containing cleaning supplies — with a combined value of $230 — were stolen between 6:30 p.m. May 29 and 9 a.m. May 30 out of a car parked on the 900 block of Pleasant Street.

A gray Schwinn Voyageur 7 bicycle valued at $700 was stolen between May 25 and 31 out of a garage on the 500 block of North Humphrey Avenue where the overhead door had been left open.

A black Apple iPhone 5; an orange leather purse containing a white Samsung Galaxy S4 phone, cards and identification; a white Apple iPhone 5; a black snakeskin wallet containing cash, cards and identification; an orange Kate Spade wallet containing cards and identification; and a yellow leather wallet containing cash, cards and identification — with a combined value of $1,410 — were stolen between 12:40 and 1 p.m. May 31 out of a home on the 400 block of North Harvey Avenue. The front door had been left unlocked.

A men's Trek 7300 bicycle valued at $550 was stolen between May 26 and 31 out of a storage closet in a locked storage/laundry room of a building on the 900 block of Pleasant Street. The hinges were removed on the storage closet door.

A women's light-blue Diamondback Vital mountain bike valued at $311.72 was stolen between 9 p.m. May 31 and 8 a.m. June 1 out of an unlocked garage on the 500 block of South Cuyler Avenue.

A 6,500-watt electrical generator and black Canon camera, with a combined value of $5,500, were stolen between 1 and 7 a.m. May 26 out of a garage on the 800 block of South Lombard Avenue. The side door was pried open.

A black handheld radar detector and coins, with a combined value of $135, were stolen between 8 p.m. May 31 and 7:10 a.m. June 1 out of a car parked in an unlocked garage on the 700 block of Highland Avenue.

A men's purple Trek 920 21-speed bicycle valued at $200 was stolen between 6:15 and 6:35 p.m. May 29 out of the rear yard of a home on the 100 block of North Taylor Avenue.

A silver Canon camera valued at $110 was stolen between 9 p.m. May 29 and 6 a.m. May 30 out of an unlocked car parked on the 1000 block of Ontario Street.

Items valued at $720 were stolen between 8:30 p.m. May 29 and 2:24 a.m. May 30 out of two unlocked cars in a garage on the 300 block of Clinton Avenue. The overhead door had been left open. Missing were black Rayban prescription sunglasses; two white Apple I-4 phone cables; four white Apple I-5 phone cables; brown DKNY prescription sunglasses; and Toyota wireless accessory headphones.

Nothing was missing after someone ransacked an unlocked vehicle parked on the 200 block of North Marion Street between 5 p.m. May 29 and 4 a.m. May 30.

A girl's green-and-purple, 24-inch Roadmaster Granite Peak mountain bike valued at $129 was stolen between June 1 and 3 on the 400 block of Lake Street where it was locked to a fence.

A black aluminum patio table and four chairs, with a combined value of $1,000, were stolen between June 1 and 3 out of the backyard of a home on the 1100 block of North East Avenue.

A girl's purple-and-silver Fuji bicycle and a boy's green Biria bicycle, with a combined value of $600, were stolen between 8:30 p.m. June 2 and 10:15 a.m. June 3 out of the backyard of a home on the 400 block of North Lombard Avenue.

A man in his 40s wearing blue denim shorts stole an unknown amount of candy bars and a loaf of bread valued at $2.59 between 3:40 and 3:49 p.m. May 26 from the Jewel food store, 438 Madison St.

Two pairs of Adidas Hyper-Fast and Runner kids' shoes valued at $63.98 were stolen out of a UPS package left at a home on the 900 block of Wisconsin Avenue between 7:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. May 29.

A black-and-red 2007 Honda CRF-230 motorcycle stolen from an Oak Park resident was found May 30 by Berwyn police, who arrested two people.

An unattended Google Chrome Samsung/XE303C12-A01US laptop computer valued at $280 was stolen between 8 a.m. May 28 and 10:02 a.m. May 29 out of a third-floor room at Oak Park and River Forest High School, 201 N. Scoville Ave.

A red 2007 Nissan Versa valued at $5,000 was stolen between 11:30 p.m. May 29 and 7 a.m. May 30 on the 100 block of Forest Place.

A man in his 40s, accompanied by another man in his 40s, sat behind an Oak Park woman in a business on the 100 block of North Marion Street, reached inside her purse hanging from a chair and stole her orange wallet at 1:25 p.m. May 30. The wallet contained cash, credit or debit cards, a driver's license and key card. Both fled south on Marion.

Three women in their 30s left the Denny's restaurant, 711 N. Harlem Ave, at 6 a.m. June 1 without paying for $28.96 in food and drinks they ate. They left in a silver 1997 Pontiac Grand Am.

Silver Giant and red Schwinn mountain bikes that had been locked to a bike rack on the 500 block of Garfield Street were stolen between 2:30 and 6:15 p.m. May 31. They were valued at $490.

A man 30 to 40 years old stole six packages of allergy medicine valued at $167.94 from the Walgreens at Roosevelt Road and Ridgeland Avenue between 3:10 and 3:14 p.m. May 29. He entered a dark gray 2005 Toyota Corolla driven by a woman 30 to 35 years old with a man in his 30s sitting in the front passenger seat. The car went west on Roosevelt.

A black Schwinn Mesa Runner bicycle valued at $60 was stolen between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. May 27 from a pole to which it was locked on the 200 block of South Maple Avenue.

A pry tool was used to damage a side door of a garage on the 1100 block of Lyman Avenue between 7 p.m. June 4 and 7:45 a.m. June 5. Damage was $70.

Two men used a pry tool to damage the weather stripping on the passenger-side front window of a minivan parked on the 100 block of North Lombard Avenue between 2:50 and 3 p.m. June 1. Damage was $100.
