No, it's not March 17 (St. Patrick's Day), and yes, it's OK to get your Irish party on anyway. The Chicago Gaelic Park Irish Fest has the makings for that celebration. Performances include music by Gaelic Storm, Ronan Tynan and the Fighting Jamesons; theatrical performances by the Acting Irish International Theatre Festival; and the popular bagpiping Shannon Rovers provide music to dance a jig or two.
Why go: There are plenty of family-friendly activities, including a petting zoo, magic shows and carnival rides.
Reconsider: You can't mix your holiday weekends, so you're only doing Memorial Day stuff.
Details: Friday through Monday at Gaelic Park, 6119 W. 147th St., Oak Forest; $15, $12 for seniors and children 4-12; 708-687-9323.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
