Taylor Goldsmith has had his share of travel -- constantly touring with his Dawes bandmates. Lately, Goldsmith has been fighting his fear of flying (documented on the band's latest, "From a Window Seat") to tour behind Bob Dylan, among others. You can catch him this summer without ever leaving home -- Dawes plays Milennium Park July 8.
Place that inspires me right now: "Charleston, SC. We recently had a day off there and were able to get to know it a little. It's really able to maintain its own personality in a way that I haven't felt anywhere else."
When I travel I always have this in my bag: A reading light.
What I'm reading: "Sometimes A Great Notion' by Ken Kesey. I've also always felt that F. Scott Fitzgerald's novels have been maybe the most inspiring books I've ever read in terms of learning how to be a better songwriter."
The next museum: I want to visit The Museum of Jurassic Technology. "I have a lot of friends that continue to recommend it. They even wear Museum of Jurassic Technology shirts. From what I understand it's dedicated to the bizarre and absurd in a way that one has to visit to really get a sense of."
The most stylish item of clothing I own is: "My watch. It's an old Hamilton my mom gave my dad the year I was born and then a few years ago my dad gave it to me."
When I cook, my specialty is: "A good cup of coffee and eggs seems to be the best I can manage. Three roasters I've been trying are Handsome, Heart and Ritual."
Favorite shoes: Nisolo shoes. All their styles are great and what they're doing for people in Peru is something all businesses should look into.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
