You do not have to be a member of the church to join our group. Everyone is welcome as long as they enjoy reading and are open to new ways of thinking.
One book we really liked was "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak. It is poetic and creative in weaving together the different perspectives of Germans living through the Holocaust.
Other favorites: "Elizabeth Street" by Laurie Fabiano, "Little Bee" by Chris Cleave and "Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet" by Jamie Ford.
We would like to meet Robert Kurson, who wrote "Crashing Through: The Extraordinary True Story of the Man Who Dared to See." We were impressed by the main character's family's encouragement and support. This book is inspiring because one of our members recently became visually impaired. We would like to ask the author how his life has changed since writing the book.
