Dr. Abha Agrawal, chief operating officer and vice president of medical affairs, Norwegian American Hospital

Dr. Abha Agrawal has been appointed chief operating officer and vice president of medical affairs at Norwegian American Hospital. She will oversee all clinical areas, including patient care, laboratory, pharmacy, information technology, imaging, nursing and outpatient services. Agrawal will also focus on leading the Norwegian American Hospital team to critically assess all of the systems, structures and processes that are currently in place. 

Before coming to Norwegian American Hospital, Agrawal worked as the chief medical officer of Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn. Her portfolio also includes heading the perioperative service line, emergency department service line, patient safety, quality management, affiliation and graduate medical education, and research. Prior to that position, Agrawal was the chief medical information officer of the Central Brooklyn Family Health Network and the associate medical director of Kings County Hospital.

She is also an associate professor of medicine and medical informatics, and clinical associate dean at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Agrawal is a physician trained in internal medicine ¿ SUNY Downstate ¿ and received a degree in medical informatics from the Yale School of Medicine.
