Revisiting the heyday of department stores and five-and-dimes

Gaping Gill, Yorkshire

Britain's highest unbroken waterfall plunges 328 ft into Gaping Gill, one of Britain's largest and most complex cave systems. Although it is usually off-limits to all but experienced cavers, the Bradford Pothole Club sets up a winch for a few days each summer to allow members of the public the chance to enter. The cave is a 90-minute walk from the village of Clapham, via the Ingleborough Estate Nature Trail.
