Summary: The Shamrocks' balanced attack gave the Hilltoppers their their first home loss in eight games. St. Patrick opened the second half with a 14-4 run sparked by seven points from junior Tim Traversa for a 47-29 lead. Joliet Catholic got within 11 in the final quarter, but eight points from G David Campbell down the stretch helped the Shamrocks pull away.

Top performers: St. Patrick — F Traversa, 18 points, 8 rebounds; G Bryant Smith, 18 points; F Jerome Robinson, 14 points, 10 rebounds; G Campbell, 11 points. Joliet Catholic — G Devine, 16 points.

The bonus: "We have balance this year, a lot of contributors in different positions," Robinson said. "Nobody has to go out and get 30 points. We have a lot of scorers."
