Here are the top deals for Dominick's the week of March 17. Since the shopping week starts on St. Patrick's Day, Dominick's has given us a one-day sale, Thursday only, with a few steep discounts:
- corned beef brisket point cut $1.77/lb.
- green cabbage 29 cents/lb.
- Safeway rye bread $1.19 a loaf
- 8-pack Guiness, 12-pack Guiness or 12-pack Killians $10.88*
- Bushmills Irish Whiskey or Bailey's Irish Cream $14.99 ($13.50 if you buy six)
* They labeled this a one-day sale, but it's already going on, plus it's listed elsewhere in the ad as running through Monday. Dominick's Marketing, please lay off the Guiness while writing up the ad, eh?
The Frugalista's favorite deals this week are the cheap cabbage, corned beef and rye bread on Thursday, 50-cent cans of tuna, $1.99 after coupon pistachios, and 88-cent-a-pound produce. However, with no real screaming coupon deals I will probably skip Dominick's this week in favor of a Trader Joe's run or something.
Now, before we go on to the all-week deals, a couple notes about Dominick's: They no longer accept expired coupons. They no longer accept a coupon for the free items in BOGO or similar offers. That means that you can only use one manufacturer's coupon for a pair of BOGO items, contrary to the policy at most other stores. However, in my experience they are still accepting BOGO coupons and $X/2 coupons -- for instance if you have a $1 off 2 coupon, you should be able to use it on a pair of items that are buy one, get one free.
Friday only, $5 each: Signature Cafe 8-piece fried chicken, 6-piece battered cod
Kraft macaroni & cheese 75 cents (limit 10)
Bumble Bee tuna chunk light 5 oz. 50 cents, limit 10 (this is my buy price since it is less than the cost of the same amount of decent cat foods)

Dairy Glen milk two for $4.99
Lucerne shredded or chunk cheese $5.99 for 32 oz. (that's $1.50 per 8 oz., not bad)
Post Honey Bunches of Oats cereal 14.5 oz. or Cocoa Pebbles 11 oz. $1.99 (if the Raisin Medley variety is included, use the $1 off coupon from the 2/27 SmartSource)
2-liter Pepsi or 7-Up 88 cents
Buy one, get one free: Bob Evans Express Links and Patties 8 oz. @ $3.49, Nathan's Angus beef sausage 14-16 or Nathan's beef franks 12-16 oz. @ $5.99, SeaPak seafood selections 8.2-22 oz. @ up to $8.99
Buy two, get two free: 12-packs coke products. This is not a great sale since the regular price is a whopping $5.99, bringing it down to $3 a pack when you buy four. However, if you have free Coke coupons from Coke Rewards, you can use two on this deal and get the other two free, thereby getting more than you would normally get for your coupon.
Buy 3 or more $1.99 each, mix and match, through 3/30: Formula 409, Lysol Cling, Soft Scrub, Clorox Wipes, Scrubbing Bubbles, Pine-Sol, Windex, Febreze are shown. Look for tags for others in store.
15 Gatorade (32 oz.) for $10, or 67 cents apiece -- it says "Buy 10 @ $1 each, get five more free." Why do they make us do so much math?
