A woman was charged this morning with murder in the shooting death of a man during a large gang fight this week on the Southeast Side, police said.
Jacqueline Helm, 19, was part of a large fight between rival groups in the 10500 block of South Hoxie Avenue in the South Deering neighborhood about 6:30 p.m. Thursday when she shot Julian Montejano, 32, in the chest, said Chicago Police News Affairs Robert Perez. She was ordered held without bail in a bond hearing today before Cook County Criminal Court Judge James Brown.
Montejano, of the 10800 block of South Hoxie, was also involved in the fight, police said.
Montejano was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital, where he was declared dead, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Calumet Area gang enforcement officers arrested Helm a few hours after the shooting, and the Cook County state’s attorney’s office approved the murder charge against Helm this morning, police said.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
