A severe thunderstorm expired for central DeKalb County until 2:45 p.m., but DeKalb and parts of nearby counties were under flash flood warnings until this evening after officials in DeKalb spotted a funnel cloud there, according to the National Weather Service.
At 1:52 p.m., law enforcement reported a funnel cloud north of Waterman, about 12 miles south of the city of DeKalb, according to the weather service.
A torndao warning and a severe thunderstorm warning expired after being spurred by the same storm that spawned the funnel cloud.
Flash flood warnings were issued for DeKalb, southwestern McHenry, and parts of LaSalle, Lee, Boone and Ogle counties until 7:30 p.m.
