A Hubbard High School senior was shot and killed early this morning in the Gage Park neighborhood on Chicago's Southwest Side, police said.
Killed was David Corral, 17, of the 3300 block of West 63rd Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Corral was wounded in a drive-by shooting near Gage Park High School in the 5700 block of South Washtenaw Avenue at about 12:15 a.m., police said.
A gunshot penetrated Corral's arm and entered though his armpit, killing him at the scene, police said. An autopsy confirmed that the teen died from multiple gunshot wounds and the death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner's office.
Corral was a senior at Hubbard High School, where grief counselors will be on hand Monday, a Chicago Public Schools spokeswoman said.
Corral's relatives couldn't be reached for comment.
Police suspect the shooting was gang-related, but separate police sources said Corral had no known gang ties.
No one was in custody and Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.
