The trial of former Streamwood police officer James Mandarino, which was due to resume today in the Rolling Meadows branch of Cook County Circuit Court, has been delayed because of a death in the family of the one of the defense attorneys.
Mandarino is charged with aggravated battery and official misconduct stemming from the alleged beating of motorist Ronald Bell during a March 2010 traffic stop. A video of the incident captured by Mandarino’s squad car camera shows him striking Bell multiple times with a metal baton.
Mandarino was fired shortly after the incident. His trial is scheduled to resume March 21.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
