Woman dies after being hit by SUV in Rosemont

A Chicago woman died after being hit by an SUV in Rosemont early Monday, officials said.

Maria Elena Patino, 59, of the 1100 block of West 19th Street in Chicago, was declared dead at Lutheran General Hospital just before 6 a.m. Monday after being struck by a vehicle near Bryn Mawr Avenue and River Road in the northwest suburb, according to the Cook County medical exmainer's office.

The victim was hit by a compact SUV about 5:15 a.m. Monday near the off-ramp from Interstate 90 at southbound River Road, near Bryn Mawr Avenue, said Rosemont Police Lt. Gregory Nazuka. The driver of the SUV stopped and had not been charged criminally.

An autopsy today determined Patino died from injuries suffered in the accident, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
