A female pedestrian died after being hit a car Friday night in West Chicago, police said.
According to a press release from the West Chicago Police Department, the victim, no age available, was struck by car about 9:11 p.m. near Illinois Highway 59 and Pine Street in the west suburban community. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where she died.
The DuPage County Coroner’s office confirmed the death but would not confirm the victims’ gender or age or identify the victim pending notification of family.
According to the release, the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident returned to the scene after “realizing the damage to his car was possibly the result of a collision with a person.”
Police said the accident is still under investigation.
