Volleyball coach behind the wheel of bus involved in Grayslake crash

A Libertyville High School coach was the driver ticketed for his role in a school bus accident in Grayslake that injured 13 students on their way to a volleyball tournament early Saturday, according to authorities.

Jorge Tamayo, 32, of Chicago, the Libertyville High School Wildcats volleyball coach, was cited for failure to yield while making a left turn, officials said. He could not be reached for comment.

“Our district is conducting a thorough review of the accident, and will draw any final conclusions once that review is complete,” said district spokeswoman Mary Todoric.
