This week’s Theater Loop Showcase video is “Luna Gale,” playwright Rebecca Gilman’s heated new drama at the Goodman Theatre. The titular Luna is a newborn baby that social services removes from the care of her parents, both teenage meth addicts. To keep the child out of the foster system, she’s given to her grandmother, Cindy. Caroline (Mary Beth Fisher) is the social worker at the center of it all who, while helping to rehabilitate the baby’s parents, has serious doubts about the grandmother’s ability to take care of Luna. But are these doubts based on fact, past experience or personal bias? In this scene, Caroline first meets Cindy (Jordan Baker) to decide whether she’s the appropriate person to watch over Luna Gale. “Luna Gale” plays the Goodman Theatre, 170 N. Dearborn St., through Feb 22. Chris Jones has the review.
We filmed this video, a scene from the show, in our studio in Tribune Tower.
