At least one person died and three others, including a 15-year-old boy, were injured in three separate evening shootings across the city, Chicago police said.
Daniel Green, 21, of the 7100 block of South Euclid Avenue, was the man killed, according to the Cook county medical examiner's office. He was shot in the head about 9:20 p.m. Sunday night in the 7800 block of South Constance Avenue in the South Shore neighborhood, police said.
He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Amina Greer and was declared dead about 12:28 a.m., according to the medical examiner's office.
The attacker approached the gangway of a building on Constance and began firing two guns, hitting the victim in the forehead, according to police.
The teenager was shot multiple times in the torso at about 9:25 p.m. Sunday in the 3600 block of West 16th Street in the Lawndale neighborhood, authorities said. Police said the gunman approached the boy on foot and fired several shots before fleeing north from the scene.
The boy was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious-to-critical condition, a Chicago Fire Department spokesman said.
The shootings began at about 6 p.m., when a gunman inside a blue SUV opened fire on two men at a vehicle near West 54th Street and Albany Avenue in the Gage Park neighborhood, police said.
A 21-year-old man who was behind the wheel was struck in the arm while his 22-year-old passenger was wounded in the buttocks and wrist, police said, citing early reports.
The 21-year-old man was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in serious condition, while the driver took himself to Holy Cross Hospital for treatment.
No arrests had been made in any of the shootings, police said.
