Producers of “The Last Ship,” the new musical by Sting having its pre-Broadway tryout in Chicago this summer, announced casting and the show's future Broadway home on Wednesday. “The Last Ship” will begin previews at the Neil Simon Theatre on Sept. 30 with opening night set for Oct. 26.
The principal cast of the Joe Mantello-directed musical will include Michael Esper (“American Idiot” on Broadway), Rachel Tucker (“Wicked” in the West End), Jimmy Nail (“Evita” film), Aaron Lazar (“The Light In The Piazza” on Broadway), Sally Ann Triplett (“Viva Forever!” in the West End), Collin Kelly-Sordelet and Fred Applegate (“Young Frankenstein” on Broadway).
