An Illinois State Police trooper suspected of shooting his girlfriend to death at a graduation party was denied bail this morning at the Cook County courthouse in Maywood, prosecutors said.
Brian Himber, 31, of Chicago, was charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of Tracy Mays, 29, who was killed at a graduation party at a Westchester home on Sunday.
Mays was most recently a resident of Joliet, according to Westchester police.
After the shooting, Himber tried to kill himself, police said, leaving him with critical injuries. His condition had stabilized by today, but he was still hospitalized and was not in court, said Andy Conklin, a spokesman for the Cook County state's attorney's office.
A preliminary court hearing is scheduled for July 27.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
