Three days before the Big Ten officially expanded to 12 teams, a source in the television industry told the Tribune's Teddy Greenstein: I hear it will be Nebraska and only Nebraska. Huh? We all had been led to believe that this decision was about eyeballs i.e. extending the reach of the Big Ten Network into populated markets. But the Big Ten did stop at 12 and now has a powerhouse football conference and league title game worth roughly $22 million per year.
