South Side fire sends 2 to hospital

Two people were taken to the hospital this morning from a fire in the South Side's Longwood Manor neighborhood, authorities said.

The fire broke out about 5:30 a.m. in a 2 1/2 story building in the 1300 block of West 100th Place, according to the Chicago Fire Department's official twitter feed.

A 48-year-old woman and an 11-year-old boy were both taken in fair-to-serious condition, officials said. The woman was in fair-to-serious condition, and the boy was in good-to-fair condition.

Firefighters had extinguished the blaze by 6:13 a.m.
