1939 traffic jam

The 37 ton snow cruiser of the Adm. Richard E. Byrd Antarctic expedition nears Framingham, Mass., circa Nov. 13, 1939 on its way to Boston to catch a ship. The cruiser caused a record traffic jam over a 90 mile stretch, delaying 70,000 automobiles in what was described as Massachusetts' worst tie-up in history.
