Skokie carjacking suspects sought, vehicle found on Kennedy

Tribune reporter

Authorities are investigating after “multiple’’ people stole a vehicle from a motorist at gunpoint this afternoon in a parking lot for the CTA’s Skokie Swift in north suburban Skokie, police said.

It happened about 2:20 p.m. at the lot, 8945 Gross Point Rd., said Skokie Police spokesman Officer Joe Marzigliano.

“A handgun was displayed,’’ said Marzigliano, but it was not fired and no one was hurt.

As of 4:15 p.m. the incident is being investigated as an armed robbery and none of the suspects who fled with the vehicle have been arrested, though the vehicle was located by Illinois State Police, Marzigliano said.

An ISP District Chicago master sergeant said their troopers spotted the vehicle and pulled it over about 2:45 p.m. near Irving Park Road.
