At Camp Eggers in Kabul, Afghanistan, Staff Sgt. Marvin "Buck" Buchanan of South Holland recalls the wounding of Specialist Simone Robinson. Buchanan, 51, a former artilleryman from South Holland, was walking through the base when the blast shook everything. He knelt behind a gray trailer and watched the smoke rise through the trees, powerless to react. Months later, the Cook County sheriff's drill instructor is still frustrated, he said. There is no enemy to counterattack after a suicide bombing. "Am I angry?" Buchanan said. "Yes, I am, very much so."
