Richton Park man dies after Far South Side shooting

A 23-year-old Richton Park man died today after he was shot early this morning on the Far South Side, officials said.

Trevon Randolph of the 4400 block of Bretz Drive in Richton Park was pronounced dead at 2:12 p.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner.

Preliminary reports stated that about 4:30 a.m. Randolph was a passenger of a vehicle which stopped on the 1600 block of West 91st Street, said Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala. An unknown gunman approached on foot and fired one shot, striking Randolph, police said.

The driver of the vehicle Randolph was in drove away from the scene. It was not clear if Randolph was taken to the hospital by the driver or paramedics.

As of 7 p.m., no one was in custody for the shooting, Zala said.

Calumet Area detectives were investigating.
