"Are you looking for the perfect gift for Mom this Mother's Day? Introducing Mom Jeans, exclusively at JCPenney. ... Cut generously, to fit a mom's body." The object of mockery boasted a 9-inch zipper.
Now that once-derided high-rise is back—in fashion—everywhere from Saint Laurent to Urban Outfitters, which embraces the once pejorative term in an exclusive style from BDG: The Mom Jean. The rise? 11.5 inches.
Expect this silhouette to gain even wider acceptance with the resurgence of crop tops, which many of us moms wore in another time and place, under a different moniker ("half-shirts"). Most of us won't be participating in that trend this time around.
