Contemporary Chapel

Saint Benedict Chapel, Sumvitg, Graubunden, Switzerland. The wooden structure is faced with larch wood shingles. It replaces a baroque chapel that was destroyed by an avalanche -- a recently built parking lot acted like a ramp pushing the snow from the avalanche up against the chapel. The new site is protected from avalanches by a forest.
