A senior couple who both suffer from dementia went shopping near Geneva today, and the man returned home without remembering where he left his wife, the Kane County sheriff's office said while asking for the public's help in finding her.
But late tonight the woman was found safe, officials said.
Charles and Doris O'Connor left their Aurora Township home about 2 p.m. to go shopping in the Geneva area, and Charles returned home without Doris, police said. Because of his dementia, the man could not remember exactly where they went or where they stopped during the day.
Doris O'Connor was located safe and sound at the Fox Valley Mall in Aurora by their security as they were closing for the night, the sheriff's office said in a second news release issued tonight.
Police did not suspect foul play, but had asked anyone with information about where the couple might have gone today to call 911, according to the Kane County sheriff's office.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
