A veteran Chicago police property custodian was recently accused of stealing jewelry and other items from police custody.
A Cook County judge ordered Pamela Brown, 55, held on $40,000 bail on March 6. Brown, of the 10000 block of South Emerald Avenue, was charged with felony theft and official misconduct for taking items from a police evidence facility, according to police.
Brown is a $57,8282-a-year property custodian who has worked for the city since May 1990, according to court records.
A police spokesman couldn't provide additional details.
Brown, who remains in Cook County Jail, demanded a trial at her initial hearing and is expected to return to court next month for a motion hearing, court records show.
Court records didn't indicate whether Brown had hired her own attorney.
