Authorities are continuing their investigation after a boy was shot in the abdomen near the Old Orchard Mall in Skokie Friday night.
No suspects were in custody as of Sunday night, police said.
Police responding to a call of shots fired in the 4800 to 4900 blocks of Golf Road about 9:45 p.m. found a "male juvenile" on the ground, shot in the abdomen, police said in a news release. Police did not disclose the boy's age, and a juvenile is defined as anyone under age 18 in Illinois.
The victim was taken to an area hospital to be treated, and his condition had stabilized, according to the news release.
"The Skokie Police Department is pursuing all investigative leads. At this time, there is no further information," being released, police said in the news release. "An update regarding this incident is anticipated on Monday, May 20, 2013."
Friday night, dozens of police officers from Skokie were at the Old Orchard Mall investigating the shooting, shutting down roads on the south end of the mall.
Police officials declined to release any information until Saturday morning.
Friday night, hundreds of yards of police tape were draped throughout the mall as police appeared to be scouring the area for evidence. A van with lights was on Golf Road lighting up the area.
Security personnel ordered reporters off the property.
