Police are searching for a man believed to have forced a 14-year-old girl into a North Side gangway during an attempted sexual assault.
About 8:45 p.m. Monday, a man in a dark-colored sedan offered the girl as a ride as she walked in the 2500 block of West Morse Avenue, in the West Rogers Park neighborhood, police announced in a news release Thursday night.
The girl continued walking, but moments later she felt a hard object in her neck and the same man instructed her to follow him into a gangway, according to police. The man pulled the victim to the ground and tried to unbuckle her belt, according to police.
A nearby motion sensor light activated, and the man fled.
Police describe the man as white, 45-55 years old, about 6’0’’, 240-260 lbs. He has white hair and a beard, police said.
Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant. Anyone with information about the attempted assault is asked to contact Area North detectives at (312)-744-8263.
