A 47-year-old man died early Sunday following an apparent construction accident -- the second in Chicago in three days, authorities said.
Raul Lagunas, of the 2500 block of North Mango Avenue, was taken to Mount Sinai by ambulance after apparently being crushed between two vehicles about 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the 200 block of North Washtenaw Avenue, officials said.
Lagunas was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 12:54 a.m. Sunday, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
An autopsy is scheduled for today.
Police are conducting a routine death investigation but do not suspect foul play, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said. All indications are that the death was "a tragic accident," Estrada said.
Lagunas' death follows that of Martin Marino, 48, who was killed Thursday when he became trapped under an asphalt-grinding machine in the Englewood neighborhood.
