A woman opening a currency exchange this morning in the Pilsen neighborhood was robbed at gunpoint by three men.
She had just opened the establishment at 2023 S. Ashland Ave. about 8 a.m. and was turning on a space heater when the three men burst in through a side door and demanded money, police said.
One of the three men was armed with a gun, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada.
A description of the trio was not available, according to Estrada, who said they fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was hurt.
The building where the robbery happened is under construction, police said.
The owner of the West Side currency exchange declined to comment.
Area Central detectives are investigating.
