Des Plaines man dies after being hit by tanker truck

A tanker truck struck and killed a pedestrian in Elk Grove Village Friday night, police said.

Jose Resugio Meza-Horatio, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene about 9:45 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. The truck was southbound on Elmhurst Road approaching Landmeier Road when it struck the man about 9:30 p.m., police said in a release.

Meza-Horatio lived in the 100 block of Dover Drive in Des Plaines, less than two miles from where he was killed, according to the medical examiner's office.

The crash is still under investigation and it’s not clear if the 54-year-old driver of the truck, from Round Lake, will be issued citations or face charges.
