Former Addison employee sentenced on child porn conviction

A Geneva man who had been a village planner in Addison for 12 years was sentenced today to 120 days in the Kane County jail following his guilty plea for possession of child pornography.

Gary J. Reschke, 57, was charged in June with 12 counts of aggravated child pornography possession after police, following a four-month investigation, conducted a search of his home and reportedly found illegal images.

As part of a negotiated plea, he agreed to plead guilty to one count in exchange for prosecutors dropping the remaining charges.

In addition to the jail time, Reschke was placed on three years probations and ordered to pay several thousand dollars in fines and fees.

He must register as a sex offender and follow recommendations to be made after a psychological evaluation, Kane County prosecutors said.

Reschke resigned as an Addison employee soon after his arrest, Village Manager Joseph Block said Thursday.

Reschke primarily had worked with people interested in developing land or annexing into the village, village officials said at the time of his arrest.
