For Christa Meyer, starting her own band -- that was her very own, with no partner -- wasn't just a big step as a musician, it was a crucial move toward empowerment. Meyer's project-band, Man Is Man, releases its debut album Thursday. After splitting from her husband and musical partner in her previous band, Puerto Muerto, Meyer set out in earnest to do her own thing -- she had to find her own sound and discover who she was outside of that context that had defined her life for so long. How did she find this new voice? "A lot of drinking and crying," Meyer laughs.
