Passengers look for alternatives at O'Hare International Airport's Terminal 3. American Airlines canceled 67 flights at O'Hare by early midafternoon and about 300 nationwide because of its decision to ground its MD-80 fleet pending maintenance checks, the airline said. About two-thirds of American's 300-plane MD-80 fleet was temporarily grounded early Wednesday because questions had arisen "concerning how a certain bundle of wires" had been secured to the aircraft, the airline said in a statement.
