Friday was a busy mix of personal and professional obligations for President-elect Barack Obama. Here's an abbreviated look, based in part on information from the reporting pool that follows him nearly everywhere he goes.
7:33 a.m.: The motorcade carrying Obama and his wife, Michelle, arrives at the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools. There the Obamas have parent-teacher conferences for their daughters, Malia and Sasha. The conferences were rescheduled during the campaign.
8:40 a.m.: Emerging from the school, the couple leave in separate vehicles in the motorcade.
9 a.m.: Obama arrives at the Aon Center, where he meets with running mate Joe Biden, key transition advisers and new chief of staff Rahm Emanuel.
11:34 a.m.: Obama arrives at the Hilton Chicago hotel for a meeting with his transition economic advisory board.
1:53 p.m.: Obama holds his first news conference since winning the election. Topics range from the faltering national economy to what kind of dog he will get for his daughters when they move to the White House. It lasts 18 minutes.
3:20 p.m.: Obama returns to the Aon Center for more meetings.
5:30 p.m.: Obama goes to the gym.
Aides said Obama's schedule also included additional transition meetings.
