Following approval by the school’s Board of Trustees, Northwestern has unveiled its plan for the new on-campus lakeside facility that will be a boon to several NU teams, most notably football.
As first reported in Saturday’s Tribune, NU officials describe the facility as “a major complex for athletic and recreational activities.”
“This new plan will provide greatly enhanced recreational facilities for all of our students, increased parking at the north end of campus and improved key areas for our athletic programs,” said Northwestern University President Morton Schapiro. “This will be a benefit to many members of the Northwestern community.”
More details to come after a 1 p.m. news conference Saturday featuring Shapiro, Board of Trustees chairman William Osborn and athletic director Jim Phillips.
