Bud Freeman

Bud Freeman grew up in Chicago during the city's golden age of jazz and as part of the " <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PLGEO100100501250700" title="Austin (Chicago, Illinois)" href="/topic/us/illinois/cook-county/chicago/austin-%28chicago-illinois%29-PLGEO100100501250700.topic">Austin</a> High School Gang", snuck into clubs to soak up the music. The saxophonist played with <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PECLB001998" title="Benny Goodman" href="/topic/entertainment/music/benny-goodman-PECLB001998.topic">Benny Goodman</a> and <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PECLB001443" title="Tommy Dorsey" href="/topic/entertainment/music/tommy-dorsey-PECLB001443.topic">Tommy Dorsey</a> but also led his own band. He traveled and recorded around the world but returned to Chicago late in life and played into his 80s. He died in 1991.

He died in 1991.
