A 15-year-old boy was arrested Saturday night on the Magnificent Mile and charged with felony mob action after a police officer saw him and several other people beating a person on the ground, police said.
The incident happened at about 8:30 p.m. in the 800 block of North Michigan Avenue, said Chicago Police Officer Veejay Zala.
The officer was on patrol when he saw a large group of people "jumping and acting rambunctiously," Zala said. As the officer got closer, it became clear that the group was beating a male on the ground.
The officer broke up the melee and arrested the 15-year-old. The rest of the group fled.
The victim declined medical treatment and didn't want to press charges against the attackers, Zala said.
Police did not release the 15-year-old's identity, citing his age.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
