Democratic nominee for Cook County state's attorney

Incumbent State's Atty. Richard M. Daley and his wife Maggie enjoy the night after winning the Democratic nomination for Cook County state's attorney in March 1984, overpowering the challenge of independent Ald. Lawrence Bloom (5th), supported by Mayor Harold Washington. The victory represented a personal vindication for Daley who was beaten in the 1983 Democratic mayoral primary when he tried to pick up the fallen staff of his late father Richard J. Daley.
