Matthew Summy has been named vice president of government affairs for Comcast's Greater Chicago Region. Summy, 42, will be responsible for government and community relations and regulatory matters in the region that covers central and northern Illinois, including the Chicago area, northwest Indiana and southwest Michigan. Summy has two decades of experience in economic development, community investment and public policy advocacy, most recently as president and CEO of the Illinois Science & Technology Coalition, which fosters public-private partnerships that promote research, development and innovation. Before that, he held senior positions with the State of Illinois and the City of New York; worked as an aide in the United States Senate; and was a vice president in a consulting practice that partnered with public and private sector clients to execute economic development strategies. Summy has a master's degree in public administration from New York University and a bachelor's from the University of Iowa.
