Birdwatchers spot man's body in Lake Michigan

Birdwatchers this morning spotted the body of a man washed up on the rocks of a South Side harbor, Chicago police said.

They called police shortly before 7:15 a.m.  The body was in La Rabida Harbor, 6500 South Promontory Drive, said Police Officer John Mirabelli, a department spokesman.

The body was that of a white male between 45 and 50 years old, Mirabelli said. His identity was unknown.

The Police Marine Unit took the body ashore. It apparently had been in the water for some time, according to police communications.
