A passerby found the unclothed body of a man in a northwest suburban Cook County Forest Preserve District pond this morning, a district spokesman said.
Someone noticed the body about 9 a.m. and called 911 on a cell phone at 9:06 a.m., said Mike Truppa, a spokesman for the district. The South Barrington police received the call and then notified Forest Preserve Police. The man appeared to be in his 40s, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Police found the body lying half-in, half-out of the Penny Road Pond at Old Sutton Road and Penny Road near South Barrington, Truppa said.
Police were unable to determine how long the body had been there or if there were any signs of trauma, Truppa said.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office has been notified of the death, Truppa said. An autopsy is expected Thursday.
